Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished reports suggesting that United center-back Chris Smalling has glandular fever, revealing that the England international has tonsillitis, a significantly less serious injury. Smalling will miss Manchester United’s clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, but is set to return to the club afterwards. “Chris Smalling has got tonsillitis,” confirmed Sir Alex. “I know there are reports about glandular fever but they’re off the mark. “He had glandular fever as a kid but that’s not the case here. Los Blancos  boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on returning to England following his tenure at Real Madrid. The Portuguese manager, who previously managed Chelsea FC, has always been an admirer of the English game and has been tipped by many as the successor to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. Mourinho left Inter Milan in favor of the Spanish capital after winning the Champions League with the  Nerazzurri  in 2010, but “The Special One” is perhaps most infamous for leading FC Porto to improbable Champions League glory in 2004. Neymar Senior, the father of Brazilian starlet Neymar, has rubbished reports that FC Barcelona have paid Santos £8.4 million to guarantee the signature of his son by 2014. Reports out of Spain also suggested that if Santos did not sell Neymar to Barca that they would be forced to pay £16.6 million to the European champions. “Neymar has a contract with Santos until 2014,” Neymar Senior told  ONA FM . “We believe it is in his best interests to stay, grow and mature as a footballer at Santos. “We have just renewed his contract until 2014 – that is what has been decided. “The only agreement that exists is between him and Santos.” Neymar has also been strongly linked to Barcelona’s rivals Real Madrid. Lyon defender Aly Cissokho is likely to be sold in January  transfer  window, according to the club president Jean-Michel Aulas. The 24-year-old defender is looking for a new challenge and he was recently linked with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund. Les Gones were initially reluctant to let the player leave the club, but it seems they have now changed their stance. “We’ve signed Mouhamadou Dabo to replace Cissokho,” Jean-Michel Aulas told OLTV. Barcelona forward David Villa is out of hospital five days after surgery on his broken left leg. Villa suffered the fracture in the Club  World Cup  semi-finals in Japan. “This means the Barca number seven can spend the Christmas holidays with his family,” the  La Liga  club said on their website. Spain international Villa, the world and European champions’ all-time leading scorer, is expected to be sidelined for up to five months, putting his participation at Euro 2012 in doubt.
